We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

George Bernard Shaw

Introduction

Depending on where you are on your journey, your inner child might be bubbling right under the surface, itching to rear its head. For others, it might be hibernating deep within your subconscious and will require attentive work to stir it from its slumber.

Tapping into our inner child promises to kickstart our creative revival and establish a more playful relationship with ourselves and by extension, the world around us.

I am an independent writer and filmmaker. A few years ago, I fell prey to a depressive episode in the wake of my debut feature film; in the pursuit of my sanity, I stumbled over a set of transformative principles.

These principles, explored herein, reunited me with my own inner child and empowered me with a newfound passion and creative expression.

To unlock our inner child, we need to stop taking things so seriously and exorcize the proverbial skeletons in the closet.

We need to recover a sense of play and tap back into the dreams and curiosities that lie within us. To do so, we need to strip back to our foundations and root out the routines and relationships that no longer serve us.
