I've found that music really is the connecting force … Whether it's joy or sorrow, pain, wonder, surprise, elation – we get that. We understand part of that human experience, and we can relate to it.

Introduction

You don't need to possess musical talent to benefit from the healing effects of sound.

In this course, you'll learn how music can be used as a tool to cope or feel better, particularly when you feel down or stressed out.

Music for Wellness was developed by Suzanne Hanser, founding chair of the music therapy department at Berklee College of Music, and Annette Philip, a vocalist and artistic director at Berklee India Exchange who specializes in Indian music.

Hanser and Philip demonstrate how to write your own music, create therapeutic playlists, and tap into the power of sound through ancient wellness practices such as mantra and pranayama.
