Overview

Wharton Business School is one of America’s highest-ranked business schools. There, prospective students can expect an exceptional education at a cost of $50,000 a year. But Jho Low, a shy student from Malaysia, didn’t choose Wharton for its educational benefits. He wanted to find a way to access the wealthiest families in the country.

Low was desperate to fit in, to be part of the elite. Through his business school connections and with the help of corrupt institutions, he was able to siphon billions from an investment fund. He used the stolen funds to live lavishly and turn his dreams into reality.

In Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Hollywood, Wall Street, and the World by Tom Wright and Bradley Hope, we get the riveting true story of how a young man with no business experience managed to pull off one of the biggest heists of all time. We learn how this ordinary person mastered the art of deception, who he fooled - and how he got caught.

"His was a scheme for the twenty-first century, a truly global endeavor that produced nothing—a shift of cash from a poorly controlled state fund in the developing world, diverting it into the opaque corners of an underpoliced financial system that's all but broken."
