Introduction
As today's busy world moves faster than ever, more people have started turning to ancient philosophies in search of mindfulness and purpose. Jay Shetty took it one step further.
At university, Shetty would spend the semester studying for a management degree and interning with a top financial consulting firm.
However, during his holidays, he would fly to Mumbai and spend time at an ashram learning to be a monk.
After four years of alternating between bars and steakhouses and sleeping on the floor, Shetty decided that the big career his parents had encouraged brought him little joy.
So, on his day of graduation, he returned to India.
Shetty stayed at the ashram for three years, before deciding to return to the U.K.
Now, with his autobiography Think Like a Monk, Jay Shetty wants to show us that people aren't born monks; they choose to transform themselves, and it can be taught.
