We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people - our strength - from every country and every corner of the world. And by doing so, we continuously renew and enrich our nation.

Introduction
George W. Bush was brought up in Texas, and was used to living among immigrants from a young age. When he was 13, housekeeper Paula Rendon moved from Mexico to live with the family, and immediately changed all their lives for the better.
As Texas Governor, and later as President, Bush came into contact with naturalized Americans from all over the world.
Always conscious of how new arrivals can enrich the U.S., Bush ran for president on a pro-immigrant ticket, warning of the dangers of policies and rhetoric that stoke division.
Bush's previous book, Portraits of Courage, was a New York Times #1 bestseller, and Out of Many, One has followed suit.
The oil portraits are expressive and highly accomplished, while the accompanying tales of the 43 subjects are concise, inspirational, and moving.
