Introduction
Virtually everyone is searching for happiness, but few agree on how to find it – or even what it is.
But while we may find what looks like happiness in the pursuits of our careers and relationships, real happiness requires awareness.
Anthony DeMello was a Jesuit priest, therapist, and public speaker.
By combining Western religion and philosophy with Eastern spiritual practices, de Mello was largely responsible for introducing mindfulness to Western audiences in the form of 'awareness prayer.'
Until we wake up, we remain ignorant and disconnected from reality, attached to what we think we know and fearful of the future in response to past suffering.
Building on the premise that we are all asleep, Anthony de Mello leads us toward awareness with a repeated emphasis on the simple enlightened process of awakening.
