Introduction

On February 14, 2018, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The Parkland shooting left 17 dead and 17 injured, and in the weeks following, victims' loved ones and survivors grieved as they moved through the rest of the school year's rituals.

Students and parents alike became activists for gun reform, campaigning and organizing walkouts between classes, ball games, and graduation.

Filmmakers Emily Taguchi and Jake Lefferman are veteran ABC News journalists and producers.

In After Parkland, Taguchi and Lefferman gained early, intimate access to those closest to the massacre, revealing one community's resolve, grit, and pain through the unthinkable.
