Overview

Throughout their lives, many women will try myriad different diets, repeatedly getting swept up by the latest fad diet to hit the zeitgeist. In an effort to look and feel better, women try paleo, vegan, keto, Weight Watchers, juice cleanses, and numerous other eating plans that promise they will shed pounds and have more energy. Unfortunately, most diet protocols are not tested on women, who have unique hormonal systems that cause them to react to diets differently than men.

Dr. Sara Gottfried understood the issue of women's unique hormonal make-up firsthand when her health began to decline and she was prescribed painkillers, birth control pills, and antidepressants. Instead of taking medications, Gottfried changed her lifestyle and addressed the root problem: hormonal imbalance.

Today, Gottfried walks women over the age of 35 through her tried and tested protocol, The Gottfried Method, helping women balance their hormones, lose weight, and slow down aging.

Favorite Quote

"Diet programs don't work the same way for every person, and many such programs have been created by men and tested on male bodies, not female ones. The fact that you have a unique biology can get lost in the media hype around the latest diet craze."
