'You have to be undeniable,' my mother had said.

Undeniable? That word rattled in my head, scattering from point to point, hurting my brain more than those four-inch heels were hurting my feet.

After hours spent presenting in front of judges, pushing my body and brain to their maximum, hoping my posture was just right and my answers perfectly imperfect, I stared back at my mother, who had just uttered these words.

My name is Alana Morgan, Miss Teen Universe USA, journalist, actress, model, and athlete. When competing in pageants, I went through a lot of obstacles.

For multiple pageants – regional, state, and national – I walked outside the arena, head down, defeated.

My journey towards my undeniability to capture the crown was initially pushed by my passion for voicing my platform and now surrounds every step I take.

Undeniability is in every interview I lead, every word I speak to the prominent figures at the ESPYS and BET awards.
