I made a vow to myself, years ago, that I would never harm another brother or allow anyone to harm another brother around me, so it makes no sense to be quiet, to sit down, and just accept things as if they were okay.

Introduction
When filmmakers Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman were booked to document an event at an Alabama prison, they didn't expect inmates to confide in them, desperate for help.
Over the next six years, inmates showed the pair what it's really like to live and work in an Alabama prison through video calls and footage made on contraband phones.
In The Alabama Solution, Jarecki and Kaufman bring together this footage to shine a light on the daily brutalities faced by inmates across the Alabama prison system.
Jarecki is an award-winning documentary filmmaker known for the mini-series The Jinx. Kaufman was a producer on The Jinx, as well as on previous documentaries.
