One of the most controversial figures from the Nazi era was filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, whose works helped spread Adolf Hitler's ideology.

Andres Veiel is a German film director and writer known for his 2017 documentary about the artist Joseph Beuys.

Based on over 700 boxes of archival footage from her private estate, Riefenstahl is Veiel's 2024 documentary about the filmmaker's lifelong attempt to shed her reputation as a Nazi propagandist.
