Barack Obama, former U.S. President

Introduction

President Obama's election in 2008 was heralded as the dawn of a new post-racial America, yet his presidency displayed how deeply Americans were divided over racial issues.

Obama was often critically evaluated by both Black and white Americans.

Consisting of interviews with mostly Black friends and colleagues of President Obama's as well as Black celebrities, activists, and political leaders, this 2021 documentary reveals how divided Black Americans are about Obama's legacy.

Although his racial identity was constantly mentioned by the media and voters, President Obama himself held an optimistic view of the American public as open to political and racial progress.

Whether Obama's hopes are realized or not is for America to decide.
