Introduction
LGBTQ+ students are nine out of 10 times more likely to be bullied at school, and they are up to seven times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers.
Founded by authors, activists, and couple Dan Savage and Terry Miller, the It Gets Better Project tackles issues around the bullying of LGBTQ+ youth, including the risk of suicide.
In their 2012 book, It Gets Better, Savage and Miller bring together a range of voices, personal anecdotes, and allies to remind LGBTQ+ students that the future is bright.
