Introduction to the Biology of Cancer

Kenneth J. Pienta

Overview

Cancer is a devastating disease that destroys the lives and families of millions each year.

This five-week online course was created by Kenneth J. Pienta, Professor of Urology and Oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Pienta has over twenty-five years of experience studying cancer and treating cancer patients. This course also features lessons from other medical experts, such as Dr. Sarah Amend, cancer researcher, to explain how cancer imaging works and is instrumental to treatment.

The incidence of cancer is rising each year, and the disease is expected to strike over twenty million people annually by 2030. Through research, people can limit their own risk and learn how their genes are affected by the disease.
