Introduction

You may be put off by the thought of branding yourself. In some cultures, bragging about your talents is just not the done thing.

Denying the world your gifts, however, is a disservice to the world and yourself.

People won't know where to look for you or how to appreciate you if you don't share your talents.

Kimberley Barker is the Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Virginia. She focuses on new and emerging technologies, as well as reputation management and digital identification.

Barker also chairs the Technology Advisory Committee for the Medical Library Association and the Technology Program Advisory Committee for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.

In this course, Barker delves into the art of personal branding, teaching you how to build a solid infrastructure through a mission statement and select the best social media platforms for your brand.
