Introduction
Capturing someone's essence means that our biases and individual references take a back seat.
They say that the more hours you practice something, the better you will be. But what if you're practicing the wrong thing?
In this Hack, you'll be challenged to re-think what you know about photography.
Good photography is about our psychology — our identity outside of photography influences what we capture. It's about quieting the mind so that when we are behind the camera, we capture the subject's essence.
Honoring the essence of your subject is a great way to put your photograph above the rest, leaving your viewers with an emotional connection.
We do this with mindfulness. We do this by learning to settle the battles within us that prevent us from truly being present in each moment.
This is a skill to be nurtured, but it is more impactful for our art than spending excessive time honing technical skills.
