Introduction
Being an ally to someone who is dealing with a substance use disorder can be challenging if we have not made an attempt to meet them where they are.
When we do not attempt to align ourselves with the person in recovery, we run the risk of avoiding reality, placing blame on our ourselves, and lacking empathy, among other unpleasant things.
My name is Angel Vaughn. I am a mental health warrior, a person in recovery, and spiritual being who serves as a beacon of hope to my community.
There are so many ways to be a great ally, but we will focus on three ways to show up for someone you care about on their recovery journey. Let's start!
