Most people cannot even begin to imagine how fleeing like that affects you, what it means for your relationships with other people, how much it destroys you.
Amin Nawabi
Introduction
He grew up on the run – from Afghanistan, from Russia, and from his past. But he has never told his story to anyone until now.
Amin Nawabi – a pseudonym to protect his identity – fled from Kabul to Russia with his family to escape the Taliban, and now lives in Denmark.
When Danish filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen met Nawabi during high school, the two became fast friends.
In this documentary, mostly animated to hide the subject's identity and protect his relatives in Afghanistan, Nawabi tells Rasmussen the story he has kept secret for 20 years.
