Introduction
Why are there so few females in the DJ space? And specifically in country music?
I am DJ Bad Ash (aka Ashlee Williss), and I am the first and one of the only female DJs in country music.
I've performed at Stagecoach (the biggest country music festival in the U.S.) several times, as well as opened for artists like Snoop Dogg, Diplo, Adam Levine, Enrique Iglesias and many more.
DJing has predominantly been a male profession, and it's very confusing because it's not a physical sport that you would need the strength of a man … it's purely a creative, musical outlet. And women are just as creative and artistic, if not more, than men.
