Fashion Revolution
Introduction
In 2013, a building in Bangladesh called the Rana Plaza collapsed. The building was used to produce clothing for several global fashion brands.
When the Rana Plaza collapsed, more than 1,000 workers died. They were mostly women; another 2,500 workers were injured.
The Rana Plaza disaster raised awareness about the poor working conditions that garment workers face. It also birthed the Fashion Revolution movement.
Fashion Revolution is an organization founded by Carry Somers. Its mission is to raise awareness about sustainable fashion and create change in the industry.
In this FutureLearn course, Fashion Revolution explores the social and environmental problems with the fashion industry. It also suggests how to adjust our habits to create change.
