Overview

With fake news and advertising-driven media becoming more and more extreme, we need to become realist-optimists. Life is often better than the news outlets make us believe, so it's important to focus on the facts, whilst staying positive. This can help us form clearer opinions. That's why Bill Gates is such a big fan of books like Enlightenment Now, as they bring us up to speed with data in the world.

It's no wonder, then, that Factfulness is another one of Gates's 2018 favorites. Written by the Swedish, late professor, sword swallower, and public speaker, Hans Rosling, it's a book about the current state of the world. Beyond giving us the facts, Rosling helps us see them for ourselves as he dives into the ten mental biases that obstruct our thinking.
