So I think a lot of the public fear has to do with fear of the unknown. … The more we understand about sharks and their motivations and behaviors, the more that fear just dissolves away.

Lawrence Chelbeck, marine biologist

Introduction

Hundreds of thousands of sharks have been killed off the coast of Australia as a result of the government-funded Shark Control Program, which oversees measures to maintain safety at beaches in Queensland and New South Wales.

The Shark Control Program's use of nets or drumlines to curb shark risks is posing an even greater risk to the public, and even the diverse ecosystem of the Great Barrier Reef.

In this documentary, filmmaker and entrepreneur Andre Borell interviews guest stars, ranging from marine biologists to lifelong surfers, to expose the true impact of shark drumlines.

With narration by Eric Bana, the film highlights Australia's ongoing shark culling problem.
