Overview

After suffering a panic attack live on air as an anchor at ABC News, Dan Harris' mind was opened to the world of meditation. In 2014, Harris published his bestselling book 10% Happier – a self-proclaimed skeptic's guide to meditation and a glimpse into his journey towards spirituality. Harris has followed up his book with a 10% Happier newsletter and podcast, sharing new insights into leading a happier, more mindful life.

This episode's guest Amishi Jha has spent her career studying mediation with those in high-intensity working environments, including the military, firefighters, and executives.

Enlisting a scientific perspective, Jha advocates for the practice of mindfulness, helping professionals to better understand and connect with their feelings – without the 'gooey' language associated with mediation. As Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami, Jha has spent years studying mindfulness, attention, and distraction. Here, she discusses the teachings of her latest book, Peak Mind.
