Hsieh's company, Zappos, commercializes shoes all over the world and has become a market leader by providing consistent, excellent service to all customers.

Originally founded by Nick Swinmurn in 1999, Hsieh soon joined Zappos as an investor before the two decided to work together as co-CEOs.

Swinmurn left in 2006 with all his stock and Zappos was acquired by Amazon in 2009 for $1.2 billion. Hsieh stayed with the company through the merger and remained as CEO until 2020.

Hsieh decided to share his tips for improving customer service and building a billion-dollar business in this book, released in 2010, so that other companies could implement the same techniques to keep their customers, grow the business, and find success – just like Zappos.
