'Overwatering' is one of the most horrible words used today in plant care. It leads to poor watering practices and a poor understanding of why your plants are not thriving the way you want them to.

Introduction

Most people turn to Google to diagnose their plant problems. But anyone can publish content that shows up in a search engine, and you can't just rely on any site to provide valid information.

Sadly, most sites return the following answer regarding why your plant is not growing well: overwatering.

Too many people blindly trust any website without actually observing their own plants! This is a sure formula for killing your houseplants, and it remains the biggest disconnect in plant care.

With the proliferation of social media, these falsehoods continue to propagate among the plant community.

Too often, most plants indoors are not receiving enough light. There are also other factors that cause your soil to take too long to dry out.

These include a poorly draining potting mix (most indoor mixes sold on a commercial level are not sufficient on their own), a lack of drainage holes in your pot, pots that are too big for your plant's root system, and temperatures that are too cool.
