I knew that something had gone horribly wrong. The system that was supposed to protect our democracy didn't work the way that it was supposed to.

Introduction
Recently, the world can't stop talking about one woman: Stacey Abrams.
A politician and voting rights activist heralding from Atlanta, Georgia, Abrams is credited as the architect behind the massive voter drive that helped turn Georgia blue in the November election.
It's difficult to overstate the significance of 'flipping' Georgia; the Deep South state has held a conservative stronghold for generations, and hadn't previously voted for a Democratic president since Clinton in 1992.
The United States of America has fought a long, hard fight for democracy. At the foundation of the democratic state, only 6% of its citizens were eligible to vote.
While the law of the land now allows any US citizen to make their mark, there are still forces at play that prevent many Americans from voting.
By stopping voters, these forces are taking the power away from the people.
In 2021, Abrams was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts in the 2020 US presidential election.
This eye-opening documentary, released a month before the election, highlights the stark and scary reality of the USA's electoral system and laws.
As with all of her campaign work, Abrams goes the extra mile to reveal how voters are prevented from exercising their basic right to choose who governs.
