The village is 2,000 meters ahead. Thirty-five seconds for a mortar shell to fly. A two-minute drive. A ten-minute run. But here, time doesn't matter — distance does. And it's measured by pauses between the explosions.

Introduction
In the grueling 2023 counteroffensive against Russia, territory won by Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region of Ukraine was measured not in kilometers or miles, but in meters.
2000 Meters to Andriivka blends soldiers' headcam footage with frontline reporting to follow a Ukrainian platoon as they attempt to reclaim the strategically important village of Andriivka.
Directed by Mstyslav Chernov, the film follows his Oscar-winning previous work, 20 Days in Mariupol.
To make the film, Chernov and his colleague Alex Babenko joined a troop on September 15, 2023, to traverse the final 2,000 meters of heavily fortified forest and minefields to reach Andriivka.
