Overview

What does learning really mean and how does your brain make learning possible? Learning can be broadly defined as the process in which we adjust our behavior to present situations by applying knowledge gained from previous experiences.

New behaviors are learned by different types of psychological conditioning, from classical and operant conditioning to associative and observational learning. Many of the elements present in conditioned learning are embedded in our everyday world. There are not many things we do that haven't been influenced by conditioning at some point in our lives.

In this course, Associate Professor Matthew E. Mundy from Monash University explores the process of learning and how being nurtured affects human development. He also maps the link between our observations and experiences, and how we act in our day-to-day lives.
